The majority of the snow has melted, however, a few areas of snow still exist below the couloir and in the south fork. Steep snow can be skirted and most parties will find a route that does not require steep snow travel.

The couloir is about 50% cover and there are still a few snow crossings in the lower south fork. Ice axe and crampons are needed for safe ascent and descent.

Southwest couloir is still 100% snow. Multiple steep snow crossings in lower south fork of Garnet canyon will be encountered on the ascent and descent. Mountaineering Crampons and an ice axe, with knowledge on how to use them and experience traveling on steep snow is REQUIRED for safe travel on this route.
